Apple to unleash Snow Leopard?
05/06/2008 by swordfish.
Rumours suggest Steve Jobs may provide a first glimpse of Apple’s OS X upgrade when he addresses Mac developers next week.
Possibly codenamed “Snow Leopard”, OS X 10.6 is reported to be concerned with addressing the underlying structure of OS X, rather than a feature-packed release such as Leopard itself.
Possible changes include the dropping of Power PC support and the abandoning of support for Carbon, the programming interface that smoothed the transition of applications from OS 9 to OS X. Reports also suggest that developers will get a beta at next week’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) ahead of a January 2009 release.
